Horse trailers
Horse trailers range in size from a small trailer that can be pulled
by a truck or SUV to large semi-trailers that can haul many animals.
Unlike simple animal trailers meant to carry cattle, horse trailers
are usually more elaborate since horses tend to be hauled for the purpose
of competition or work.
They will often have adjustable vents and windows to help control the
temperature of the cab for the comfort of the horses. Also, the trailers
may have a suspension system to provide a smooth ride and reduce the
stress on the animals. An unpleasant experience in transport can lead
to difficulties getting the horse into a trailer the next time.
Some tips on hauling horse trailers:
• Practice driving the trailer before loading the horse.
• To help balance the load, if you are only hauling one horse,
place him on the driver’s side.
• Try to have a buddy when hauling a horse.
